The award-winning busy pub and wedding venue has an idyllic setting in the picturesque village of Swettenham next to the Lovell Quinta Arboretum, in the Dane Valley.
The Swettenham Arms has been successfully operated by the Cunningham family for the past 28 years, who are stepping back from the business and the pub is famous locally for its lavender field, delicious food and the classic car and motorbike meets held in the summer.
The pub will move forwards into the next era with Stockport-based Robinsons Brewery who are one of Britain’s oldest independent family breweries and being run by the sixth generation of the Robinson family. “While it’s been sad for me to finally say goodbye to the Arms, I’m excited to see it go forwards with its new owners,” says Frances Cunningham. “Most of my wonderful staff will be staying on for continuity, and I hope the Arms will continue to be both the local asset and popular destination it’s always been.”
The addition of the Swettenham Arms adds to Robinsons’ growing number of Managed Pubs and Inns, taking the collection to 23 properties.
William Robinson, Joint Managing Director of Robinsons Brewery, said: “We are proud to be acquiring a magnificent property, set in a stunning location. The Cunningham family have built a strong business with an excellent reputation, and we look forward to building on that success when we add the Swettenham Arms to our collection of Managed Pubs and Inns at the end of August”.
